GMA's deperate political moves, nang-ooto

Mike Defensor can still be of help. Satur exercised his moral ascendancy with Mike giving in and only has to referr to the DOJ boss, Raul Gonzalez who does not follow the rule of law. With the help of lawyers the gagging and desperate stopping of Satur to go to Geneva was frustrated.

On the other hand the diversionary tactic and justifying military rule is seen in the floating of the idea by Malacanang through its PNP that there is a plan to assassinate Gloria and some select government officials. Such moves seems so obviously done for the state to take a firmer rationale while the GMA is out of the country to justify military rule and the massive deployment of troops in Manila and heightened alert of military and police.

In Rome, GMA had succeeded in staging a drama to pacify and coopt the church by signing the end of death penalty and gave a token "gift of life" kuno to the Pope while in truth she's responsible to the ongoing massive killings and assassination of hundred of people who are working closely for the poor like pastors, priest, government officials, journalists and many more not to mention the massive displacement of peasants in the rural areas specially in central luzon where her favorite butcher, General Palparan is sowing fear among ordinary and innocent peasants. All she can expect in Rome is the protest of overseas contract workers.

Regarding the main theme of her moonlighting abroad, it will be more about selling our cheap labor, inviting capitalist to invest in the country amid government’s bankrupt state and priority in unleashing its meager resource to boost its militarization and political repression among t he poor people. Aside from that her trip is a show to the country she 'll visit that she is the "president" amid the new round of impeachment filed against her.
Now her political advisers are not sensitive that the country she'll visit had just got rid of their pro- war on terror presidents in the last elections.

These bombings are of course orchestrated by the military itself as well as talks of assassination.

Loko talaga! Before that planned visit of GMA to Rome, bombing occurred in the south plus the spreading of hearsay lies that terrorist will bomb the capital district of Manila. So now it would be easy to justify the deployment of more police in Manila. The PNP command had raised an alert to its 115,000 policemen. Asked by media why? The reason is that is a standard operating procedure. These bombing s are of course orchestrated by the military itself as well as talks of assassination. One would ask where is Norberto Gonzales, the lunatic operator and asset of the CIA in the Philippines? On the political side GMA believes by projecting her visit to the Pope she can coop the bishops here in the Philippines. Now you have the Marines inside the campus of the University of the Philippines.

Offical letter sent to print media on the killing of Tito Marata who was working close with RMP in delivering social services to poor peasants in the rural areas

Justice for Tito Marata and victims of Political Killings!

Psalm 37:28-For the Lord loves justice; He will not forsake His saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut-off.

We, the members of the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines (RMP), an inter-congregational and inter-diocesan organization of religious people and lay who chose to be on the side of the poor in the rural areas, strongly condemn the killings of Tito Marata, 26 years old, who was Media Officer of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas in Western Mindanao (KMP-Western Mindanao). As Media officer, he served as link person to RMP in updating on peasant's concerns in the area.

Marata was gunned down by a lone assassin sustaining four gun shot wounds in the head and face while alighting from a tricycle in his town in Oroquieta City. The perpetrator again used a single motorcycle, a pattern also used by previous assassins of activists. According to KARAPATAN, Marata is the 690th victim of extra-judicial killings since Mrs. Arroyo assumed presidency and the first victim after the government's declaration of its war against insurgents.

The allotment of P1B to eliminate insurgents in two years is now in effect. Funds for military and police operations are made available by the present administration, yet no funds are available to uplift the economic condition of its own people. In it's desperate attempt to crush the so-called communists insurgents, even defenseless and helpless peasant leaders who dare to commit their lives and skills for the good and welfare of the poor people in the countryside have become targets. This policy has already proven a failure in previous regimes. We too believe that this is not the best way to end insurgency. The government should instead look deeper into the roots of poverty, provide public services to the people, and offer an alternative forum for political participation which should be the agenda for the resumption of peace talks between the GRP and NDFP.

The peasants remain landless, poor and deprived. Land is life for every peasant but this life source is continually being deprived of them. They who toil to provide food on our tables are unable to fully enjoy the fruits of their labor. Their legitimate demands to own land they till has been set aside by the present administration of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Their call for genuine land reform has not been addressed but instead, is answered with deadly bullets by suspected death squads.

The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, after eighteen years of implementation, has not really changed the lives of the peasants for the better. Until now, large portions of lands are in the hands of big landlords both local and foreign, or big multinational and transnational corporations which acquired rights from the government to use thousands of hectares of plantations particularly in Northern Luzon and Mindanao Region, while leaving behind millions of hungry peasants to face an uncertain future. This is a clear manifestation that the government of President Arroyo has little or no regard at all for the plight of our peasantry.

Even members of the church who chose their prophetic mission to be on the side of poor peasants and be advocates of justice and freedom are not spared. Legal organizations and institutions suspected to be communist fronts are tagged as being enemies of the state.

We call on people of goodwill to join us in demanding that these killings and enforced disappearances be stopped, and for justice to be given to Tito Marata and all victims of political repression!

Psalm 82:3-Give justice to the weak and fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.

Propelled only to survive in an export oriented, import dependent and debt driven economy, Arroyo is now feeling a squeezing environment who's only option is to shout.

The military is so much divided, no doubt about that. Their fractiousness is reflection of the fractious state of the ruling classes, a fractious state brought about by the deepened crisis of semi-colonial and semi-feudal system characteristically having a bankrupt economy. Propelled only to survive in an export oriented, import dependent and debt driven economy, Arroyo is now feeling a squeezing environment who's only option is to shout. Her proclamation of a meager amount of 1 billion to upgrade her coercive was indeed a shout of madness. Her proclamation to deter the revolutionary forces in the rural areas exercising their legitimate right to exercise their political governance by taxing those who have had plenty and having so much surplus in their business is a shout of desperation. She can’t do anything! – which is just a right description of a puppet. However on the other hand these political developments though seen a bluff is done by her on two counts. One is her inutile assertion to project an image in public that she is in control and not the military (projecting a semblance of authority over resources as power) and two, signal an inutile attempt to neutralize the jumping of her allies within the ruling classes to the other ruling clique against her. As early as now, her media spin doctors had floated the idea to neutralize the second round of impeachment in the halls of congress.

As she is now beholden by generals surrounding her, the likes of Ermita, Senga, Reyes and the rest, she cannot disentangle her self in a
mesh full of sharks. Her generals are like growling pit-bull dogs ready to eat her. Thus all she can do is feed them. I would be not surprised that the PNP also presented themselves to join the call to crush the NPA’s. Yes fore sure they want to have a share of the money. GMA knows in her heart that she is an illegitimate president thus so is doing everything at her disposal to maintain hersef in power. We see her all around talking with local big landlords and warlords in provinces. One picture that show the actual political configuration of her power was the photo two days ago in the Philippine Daily Inquirer with her attending Chavit Singsons birthday .of In the picture where Chavit, Mark Jimenez, Defensor and with a bishop. Practically you have you have a crook, a former drug dealer, who used to get good business deals in the US through his close connection with US government officials by donating huge amounts of money, who just came out of jail and used to be Estrada’s close adviser in raiding government financial institutions for his private transactions. You have the warlord, gambler and tobacco planter who blew the whistle that exposed Estrada to the public. Then you have a former of the National Union Students of the Philippnes (NUSP), an alliance of student council and governments in the Philippines, Mike Defensor, used his position and popularity to run in government who I would like to describe as a “fly thinking he is the carabao”, eating to his hearts delight in that party, and of course a bishop, probably a moral booster representing the church! There you go. How long she’ll sustain, I do not know. But I am sure she will not last any longer.

Michael Defensor as a small fly at back of the carabao that thinks he is the cabarao

I like to describe Michael Defensor as a small fly at back of the carabao that thinks he is the cabarao. In short a period of time he has totally converted himself into a rabid reactionary scumbag. This guy seems to go around thinking that they can exist long enough given the anger the poor against them. He is totally exposed his true self as a phlegmwad and joined the General Ermita, and the lunatic Norberto and Raul Gonzales in their drive to wipe out the legal organizations. He has been used as a tool to confirm targets, those who are active enough in the people’s movement. Lately Tito Marata, a member of the local  peasant organization affiliated with the national peasant organization called Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and closely working with the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines was killed in Oroqueita City. The series of killing seems never to end and the human rights violations of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is piling up in a fast tempo. They are now continually envoking the people to rise in arms against them.

GMA's allocation of 1 billion for arms purchase is an assurance for her comprador and biglandlord friends that the is no need for them to ally with other ruling cliques against her

I am not shocked when GMA’s in the headline news had ordered to allocate and purchase arms worth one billion to her coercive machinery -- the military. Her statement was made during her visit in Isabela. I now understand where she’s coming from. She must have been so exasperated and upset by the news coming from biglandlords in Isabela that peasants were successful in warding off the landgrabbing operations of Danding Cojuangco. As a note, GMA long before the elections was done and was successful to put herself in power (through dirty means) had been in cahoots with local warlords like the Dy’s in Isabela expanding Danding's business. Danding a close supporter of hers is her favorite patron who had given her enormous amounts of funds for her political ambitions. GMA, the Dy's and Danding's frustration may come from the fact that the peasants has militantly resisted their deceptive landgrabbing schemes by enticing peasants to go monocropping. Peasants know that mono-cropping, or planting only cassavas in their farms does not and will not solve their hunger or a way get themselves out of the deep poverty they are in. As a matter of fact, they know that Danding's landgrabbing scheme only hastens repossession of their lands, peasants unable to repay the money for start up capital they borrowed from the land bank requiring their land as pieces of collaterals. The Dy’s must have insinuated to her that the reason why they lost political clout in the province is due to active peasants involvement in the last elections had hindered their illegal logging activities in the province. I am quite sure by this time, Danding have asked GMA the promises she committed to him to smoothen his business after receiving those money for elections. Danding definitely is disgusted to see that there is no good line of supply of cassava flour for his multi-million feeds industry.

In 2004 when I visited those cassava plantation in Isabela, Danding had been successful in putting military camps along entry points of his plantations. Those camps where used as training ground for their private armies mostly comprised of ragtag armed bandits from Balwegs group and Arturo Tabara’s RPA-ABB in Negros Occidental. These groups created havoc among peasant communities in the area but have been exposed in media.

GMA’s call to wipe out the NPA is actually shout of madness. She does not realize that this revolution she is confronting now is just a continuation of the struggles of Andres Bonifacio, a revolution that has been started way ahead she was born. As decades have past, the material basis for this revolution had just become more clearer in the minds of the people in the rural areas and had come to recognized the importance of upholding the advance leadership of the working class which makes the revolution more sophisticated and objective. Her bunch of bobo advisers are totally ignorant about the political situation. The NPA at its core strives because it advances peasants aspirations and interests. It is a peasant army! Killing them would serve the opposite purpose that is igniting more fire and anger against biglandlords in the halls of power. Killing them even mean killing our economy because peasants are the providers and suppliers food crops for the people.

GMA has a callous face and the temerity to use people’s money at her own behest. Instead of funding health services for the poor, funding literacy and numeracy programs for peasant children , funding housing for urban slum dweller who live in shanties, ramshackled homes or under the city bridges, GMA is throwing money to feed her attack dogs who find happiness in tearing the flesh of poor people.

I have no doubt that those funds will likely end up pocketed by her Generals since most of them are also engaged in arms dealership. I would even have no doubt that in short a time those arms will end up in the hands of revolutionaries in the countrysides waging successful tactical offensives against them. For sure the repressive campaign of biglandlords and compradors which GMA represents will bound to fail. How can they win when all they have done is kill peasants whose demands are so legitimate, demands such as asking the government to democratize land ownership in the country, asking government to insure their rights to land tenure, their rights to till and own a land. How can they wipe out the NPA when peasant organizations in the country sides which the NPA protects are so so successful in implementing the minimum program of genuine land reform, that is getting rid of usury in the rural areas, reducing land rent in favor of the poor peasants, increasing productivity in their farms and helping them in support services such as irrigation, health and literacy and numeracy ? GMA must be poking a hammer on her head after all.

But I honestly understand her. All she is communicating is this: Her call to put one billion to wipe out the NPA is a simple assurance for her comprador and landlord friends that she still represent their economic and political interests amid her growing political isolation, that she will protect them whatever it takes, that there is no need for them to ally with other ruling cliques again her, that everthing is alright. Her call is a reiteration that she is upholding their interest against the well organized peasants in the rural areas who had driven them crazy including US big business interests. However her call has no effect at all to neutralize or deter the fractiousness within the ruling classes. The truth of the matter is she is digging her grave fast enough and her allies are jumping fast outside of her boat.

Mao said that correct ideas comes from social practice!

Talking of technology. I have discovered something about a software that I have taken for granted, for years. I am referring to Macromedia Fireworks. What I have discovered three days ago was that this software is actually the version which combines Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Dreamweaver. What good about this is that all the animations can be exported to Macromedia Flash thus having a  nice flash output. For the past years I have been using macromedia dreamweaver separately from doing my picture editing by using Adobe Photoshop. But today not anymore. I will be using this for my upcoming projects as well as shifting from one program to the other or combining them. Its really nice when you spend some time experimenting things. Mao said that correct ideas comes from social practice! Thus I am practicing it now to to get a firmer grip of things and understand it more deeper. Mao just paved the way for us more ways how we think!

Either for them to waterdown Jesus as an ambivalent person or a determined revolutionary

This coming Friday I will be grilled by a panel of 15 people as part of my incareship in my conference. For those unfamiliar with church lingo, this means I’ll be under an organization and not a collorum as a student eyeing for ordination.

. A friend of mine who is a co- member of our student council here in the seminary and had graduated last March told me he will be attending the meeting. I asked him what wilhe ask me? He said about Calvin. Well, honestly I have a lot of things to say about this man and his theology but I will expound more on my theology instead. So what is my theology? Well it’s a combination a theology of struggle and liberation that is seeing the face of Jesus in the heart of people, the poor. For me the incarnation is living out Christ in one’s life and as a consequence death is a common occurrence according according to Mao Tze Tung.. But death will vary, either you can live up with your principles that you willing to be crucified bacause of your conviction. Living a life serving only one's self and not others is also an option as a matter of fact is mostly taken by middle classes be it here in the US or in the Philippines. Mao had said once to die for the oppressed is weightier than mount Tai and the other way around, that is, to die for the oppressor is lighter than a feather! Let me think, we just live in this earth for 80 years the most. How in the world can one be so selfish not seeing this? It would be so superficial to live for nothing. But I cannot blame people. They are so entrapped with the undercurrent conditions that makes them impossible to see things. They see only their own butts. Good for some when they reach the age of 40 they slowly realize things in this world are just so disarranged, some wouldn’t care at all as they bel.ieve this are all "Gods will"and indeed they die a common death. Others would opt to go on flight rather than fight and confront the situation. Other’s would rationalize their bourgeois stupidity and hate the empowerment of the working classes. Other would spit all the poisons of pacification and resignation and that its better to keep quite. But Jesus did otherwise! He died with his conviction after he turned those tables upside down in that temple ruled by pretentious priests. Centuries later he would be made into a mysterious person than an ordinary man with extra-ordinary conviction. He was revolutionary and a son of a peasant who comes from Galilee, a very desolate place for many. Now tell that to your bishops, your pastors, your priests, your nun friend that Jesus was a revolutionary. You will have a good discussion. It's either for them to waterdown Jesus as an ambivalent person or a determined revolutionary who wants thorough going change. Spark the light!

The spirit of our heroes in the hearts of the poor masses would never agree to such self- serving call.

GMA said in her speech commemorating the sham independence the other day said our people will soon be called upon to make a decision that can bring an end to the political deadlocks that have stalled our efforts to take our nation to the next level, furthermore she added the choice is for us to make whether we continue to live up to the vision of our national heroes or continue to watch helplessly while our political system degenerates and our economy is trapped in the mire of uncertainty,”

Now let me ponder what is she talking about? What political deadlock has been stalled, and what is the next level she is referring to? Did our heroes vision the same as hers, when in fact all she does now is exactly the opposite our heroes fought for that is sell our country to the highest foreign bidder and let them rape our natural resources and our people?

GMA is a good talker and a deceiver. Bare faced she peddles lies in public. She wants the people to change the provisions in the constitution, one, to get rid of the provisions limiting foreign ownership for them to further exploit our natural resources and two, to prolong her rule. Her lapdogs would never an inch, hesitate to justify their bosses call as this would mean prolongation of their stay in power too.

The spirit of our heroes in the hearts of the masses would never agree to such self- serving call. As a matter of fact she had brutally dispersed the people, the peasants who had ebraced the vision of our heroes, fighting for justice and truth, against her who had done a mockery of the electoral process rigging votes in the last elections. She had ordered the killings of the present heroes whose lives were sacrificed for the sake of the poor who wants justice and freedom.

I cannot imagine GMA still has the temerity to use the names of our heroes. All I can see now is the thickness of the callous she has in her face and heart. I support the CBCP move to oppose GMA maneuver to prolong herself in power via Charter Change. I hope the bishops will be consistent with this and always listen and seek the face of God among our people. They have to see the living Christ among the poor echoing the voice of freedom and justice and those who have died killed by those in power.

Its a small world actually, you know who's doing it

Ahh, what a small world indeed. Reading the website of Sec. Eduardo Ermita sent flashes to my memory how Rex Ramos our boarder in the 80's who happens to come from one of the prominent families from Dipolog would brag that he has a uncle General. I remember Secretary’s wife comes from Dipolog just few hours away where the latest killing of a UCCP pastor Rev. Jemias Tinambacan happened. I am familiar of this place because Western Mindanao is where my family's roots comes from. This is the place that I spent my childhood from grade three to six until we transferred to Dumaguete City, in Silliman. Most prominent families in Western Mindanao would always send their children to a Presbyterian founded school, Silliman University known to have offer good education. Most of them would opt to stay in faculty houses, people they know who comes from Western Mindanao. The Ramoses hails from Dipolog who owns a nice restaurant, the Roadside Cafe & Restaurant. It is where we used to eat when we visit the place. Rex who is now here in the US was my room mate for a while when I was in college in the 80's in Dumaguete. He used to stay in our house. His dad, Rene, installed even a long distance radio inside our room for him to call which was annoying at many times. Rex face was that kid we always saw on TV, a pictureof a caucasian looking kid in the carnation evaporated milk cover. At any rate, his uncle is General Ermita, the one who has been talked about, seating in the oversight committee of GMA’s cabinet, the one who now holds authority even over GMA, the one who is accused responsible of the series of killings? I have a strong hunch that given his background, that is his military career and his experience in government he had now taken captive GMA. As the days unfolds he had sucessfully pinned government’s political direction to his political benefit. This is the most familiar route political players do as in the case of General Fidel Ramos or even the national lunatic security adviser of GMA, Mr. Norberto Gonzales to gain more power and position themselves in the highest echelons of government.

I remembered before during Marcos time that top operators like roving hit men or death squads mostly came fromWestern Mindanao. How do I know this? I know this because one of my cousin was a notorious policeman mercenary assasin. Though, late in the 80’s he was killed by partisans of the NPA in Calamba Misamis Occidental, where my grandparents live, we know he was doing secret assassination tasks doing “projects” as far as Cebu and the whole Visayas. Passing Dumaguete, he would drop by our residence to take some refuge for quite some time without telling us hough I know exactly what his into. All I know he has lots of money. Indeed politics in the Philippines is too small; you know whose doing it and what they are doing. It can even be your family relative. As the killing spree goes on killing people leaders, church workers, ordinary and not so ordinary people who has commitment their lives to help the poor, proclaim justice, hold on to what is truthful and right, I fervently pray that these top officials orchestrating this operation should be punished and bring to justice. As national peasant leaders one of them such as Ka Daning who is my close friend now being tailed and even their lawyers, by these bloodthristy killers, there is the immediate need to intensify people’s campaign to expose these people. These killers have no balls when their faces are exposed in public. These people are blinded by greed and money. As GMA commits more crime victimizing people, there is the immediately need to oust her. Her generals like Ermita with bunch lapdog followers, rabid anti-communist lunatics who are in Malacanang should be cut off and immediate from power and should be exposed.
